Earlier this year we reported the steady, year-over-year engagement growth Olive is seeing with its key digital replica newspaper titles. We looked at eight of our most well-known titles and tallied up the number of monthly sessions across all platforms and devices. The results were impressive as we showed the trends from January 2012 through March 2014. Here’s the updated snapshot of that performance, now illustrating performance through September 2014:
As you can see, the engagement growth trend has continued through the past two quarters. If we continue on this trajectory through the end of the year we’ll likely see an engagement increase of 35-40% vs. 2013. As we noted in the earlier article, we’re definitely seeing traffic shift from desktop to mobile, but it varies from title to title. What we’re learning is that those publishers who aggressively promote their mobile Olive editions are the ones seeing the most significant shift from desktop to tablet/phone.
Newspaper publishers reading this article should ask themselves how their trends compare to the ones shown in the chart above. If you’re using another e-edition platform and you’re not enjoying this type of year-over-year engagement growth, let’s talk. In addition to helping you improve your engagement results we’d also like to share some of the other many benefits of being part of the Olive publishing family, including how to enrich your content, redeploy it to reach new customers and generate new revenue streams.
