Press Release
Olive Showcases Mobile Support for iPhone and Blackberry
Delivery of articles optimized for bandwidth and user preference
Santa Clara, California, September 25, 2007 – Olive Software, a global leader in electronic publishing and digital archiving technologies, will showcase mobile content technology on iPhone and Blackberry handheld devices, at the Folio show in New York City from September 24-26. Olive’s mobile capabilities now provide publishers the opportunity to create new business models and an additional channel through which to deliver content to their subscribers. Users of mobile devices will be able to access the content of their favorite publications that use Olive Software to render their electronic editions.
Olive’s approach is to provide multiple ways of accessing content, either as text only or with full graphics, to accommodate user preferences and technical constraints such as bandwidth and screen resolution. Publishers can leverage Olive’s advanced XML-based repository and article-level segmentation to repurpose articles for display on mobile devices.
“Olive’s new mobile solution will give us new ways to allow our customers’ subscribers access to content while they are on the go,” said Alan Snyder of Fry Communications (www.frycomm.com). “The flexibility to repurpose content gives us great agility to meet our customers’ evolving needs. Working with Olive as technology partner for our integrated services solutions and Fry Digital e-ditions helps us provide unique information distribution solutions to our publishing clients."
“Providing access to news on mobile devices demonstrates the power and flexibility of our microcontent platform,” said Yuval Rachmilevitz, President and CEO of Olive Software. “Olive gives publishers another way to deliver content to their customers, create new business models, and use Web and wireless technology to boost their revenue.”
Olive will be demonstrating its mobile capabilities at the Folio trade show in New York at booth 405. Fry Communications is at booth 618. If you have an iPhone or Blackberry, you can see the demo at http://mobile.olivesoftware.com/olivemobile.
