CHICAGO SUN TIMES TAPS INTO THE SUBURBAN MARKET AND BEYOND WITH OLIVE'S ELECTRONIC EDITION
DENVER, Colorado, December 15, 2005 - The Chicago Sun-Times, one of the 10 largest newspapers in the United States, has purchased Olive Software's ActivePaper Daily product as the solution for its electronic edition delivery in hopes of delivering its readers news and other content in a new medium.
"We were looking for new ways of delivering news," said John Cary, Senior Director of Online Operations for the Sun-Times News Group. "Olive provided the right medium for distributing our electronic edition. We are sensitive to the needs of our readers and want to offer our customer base an opportunity to select a news format that meets their growing needs. We were intrigued by Olive's existing customer base and reassured of the company's success in the newspaper market after seeing its facilities in Israel. Most importantly, Olive's flexible model allowed us to outsource production to the organization's staff and gain a new electronic product without any capital investment was a major selling point."
The Sun-Times electronic edition will become available to the general public in the first quarter of 2006.
"The Chicago Sun-Times has always had a prevailing influence in the metro area. By acquiring the electronic edition the newspaper will be able to expand offerings into the suburban areas of DuPage, Lake and Cook Counties targeting a very computer literate audience where the Internet usage rates are higher than the national average, "added Kim Dail, Vice President of Marketing Olive Software.
Sun-Times has become a recent addition to the long list of Olive's customers, including Washington Post, Time Inc., Reed Business Information, Financial Times, Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News to name a few.
Olive's Platform currently includes the following products and services: Electronic Edition, Archive module, AdPortal, Tearsheet module, TimeTraveler and Pipex Digitization.
