JAMAICA'S MOST READ DAILY MORNING NEWSPAPER TAPS INTO NORTH AMERICA WITH ELECTRONIC EDITION POWERED BY OLIVE
DENVER, Colorado, November 14, 2005 - The Jamaica Observer, Jamaica's most read Daily morning newspaper, has selected Olive software for its delivery of e-edition, an exact replica of the publication's print product.
Jonathan Kirkcaldy, Senior Systems Administrator for The Jamaica Observer recognizes the vast potential that digital delivery has to offer: " On a monthly basis our website gets more unique users than the population of Jamaica. Based on these statistics, we were seeking a delivery method that would both provide our readers with news in a format that they prefer and reach them abroad with fresh and relevant information, while at the same time preserving the look and feel of the traditional newspaper. Olive ActivePaper Daily T delivered just that."
The Jamaica Observer is the first Caribbean newspaper to launch Olive's electronic edition and will initially provide free access to the electronic edition to build momentum; however, the publication plans to increase revenue by switching to a paid model in early 2006.
"With increasing paper and postage costs, newspapers of all sizes around the world are searching for alternative methods of delivering their content to readers in a timely and user friendly manner. We are pleased to be able to offer The Jamaica Observer a multitude of archiving and e-delivery solutions, while at the same time going beyond cost savings to developing a closer relationship with readers outside the newspapers immediate delivery area," commented Kim Dail, Vice President of Marketing Olive Software.
The Jamaica Observer joins a long list of international publications and institutions currently utilizing Olive's solutions, including The Financial Times, British Library, Times of India, SingTao Publishing Group, Canadian National Post, and Yediot Aharonot to name a few.
Olive's Platform currently includes the following products and services: Electronic Edition, Archive module, AdPortal, Tearsheet module, TimeTraveler and Pipex Digitization.
