Press Release
OLIVE SOFTWARE TO POWER TIMELY ELECTION COVERAGE FOR ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS
DENVER, Colorado, November 1, 2004 - Olive Softwares
ActivePaper technology will enable the Rocky Mountain News to provide
late-breaking election coverage through its online edition, an exact replica
of the print edition at www.rockymountainnews.com.
The News has announced that its online newspaper will provide
the most up-to-date election coverage and make the electronic edition
free of charge throughout the election returns on Wednesday and Thursday.
If necessary, an Extra edition of the Rocky Mountain News will be published
to the Web in order to be the first newspaper source of any breaking news.
"Olive’s ActivePaper platform benefits both newspaper publishers and
their communities by enabling timely dissemination of the news as it
happens - even after the presses have stopped", explained Chris Kelly,
vice president of Olive Software. "ActivePapers unique ePublishing
system delivers a robust XML repository that preserves the look and feel of
the original publication while enabling on-the-fly output to multiple channels
and devices. This allows newspapers to be competitive in delivering
up-to-the-minute information through their online publication. I wouldn’t
be surprised if the Rocky Mountain News notices a spike in circulation once
their readership experiences the online election coverage", added Kelly.
Olive Softwares ActivePaper platform aggregates diverse content sources
into one repository, combining back-file archives and current publications into
a commerce-ready, XML "plug and play" environment that serves up online
publications, ads and tearsheets with the click of a mouse.
