As stated in an earlier article, a compelling digital book must offer benefits that can’t be offered in the print edition. These benefits must not only be attractive for consumers but for authors and publishers as well.
You’ve undoubtedly already experienced a digital book or two and are familiar with their standard features, so let’s examine some of the other, more compelling features we would like to see:
More than 60 years have passed since the invention of the digital book, yet it is still locked into and dependent on special reading applications, themselves the prisoners of the various operating systems and walled gardens. Don’t you think the time has come to get rid of all this, and just read books in a browser, anytime and anywhere, like other content?
