Olive was founded in 2000 and developed an innovative, intelligent content processing technology that transforms complex PDF and scanned publications into web-accessible, reusable and enriched XML format. Olive’s Content Intelligence technology reduces the need for dedicated production systems, manual tagging, cumbersome workflows and specialty front-end applications. Olive’s has received numerous patents and awards for its inventions in the fields of intelligent content processing and parallel computing

  • 2000

    Introduced first e-Newspaper

    Introduced the first eNewspaper. The market leading print to web solution was based fully on XML and utilized the Publisher’s print ready PDF without disrupting their production process.

  • 2001

    Invented XML Distiller

    Invented automatic XML transformation technology (XML Distiller) utilizing a fully automated print to web process.

  • 2002

    Implemented first digitization process

    Implemented the first fully automatic microfilm newspaper archive digitization process and web search technology. The innovative and patented process transformed physical material into article-level digital content for preservation and accessibility.

  • 2003

    Introduced Digital Magazine

    Introduced a browser-based digital magazine based on the same XML print to web process as the newspaper production.

  • 2004

    First Microfiche Digitization

    Invented the first fully automatic microfiche digitization system; installed at DTIC (US government site).

  • 2006

    Introduced "Enterprise"

    Introduced “Enterprise,” an enterprise micro content management system based on open architecture.

  • 2008

    Going beyond Desktop

    Delivered iPhone eEdition; also conceives first HDTV magazine. Content consumption was no longer limited to the desktop.

  • 2010

    Introduced Multi-Channel Publishing

    Introduced automated multi-channel publishing platform. The growing number of consuming devices required Olive to continue innovating by developing an automated production platform delivering to a wide range of devices.

  • 2011 - 2012

    Introduced true cross platform support

    Introduced support for Android devices and HTML5. True cross platform support provided Olive and its customers great flexibility in adapting to the rapidly changing world of mobile devices.

  • 2013 - 2015

    Several product launches

    HTML 5 platform & SDK for eEdition, Archive, eBook, Directories & beyond. Introduced the first national ads network for eEdition – OLIVads. Introduced post publication enrichment capabilities for eEdition, Advertising, eBook, Archive. Focus on becoming a true revenue partner for its customers.

  • 2016 - 2017

    Infrastructure focused, white-label partnerships

    Cloud-based ecosystem delivering intelligent content processing, publishing, distribution and monetization solutions. Seizing the potential of the Cloud, Olive migrated its datacenter and core technology to AWS. This investment provides access to Olive’s technology and services to a growing number of customers and partners.

    Converging Print, Digital & Social

    Olive Cross Media Publishing (OCM). Thought leadership and innovation. Olive is developing the next generation of ePublishing allowing Publishers to grow audience by converging the 3 distinct environments of print, digital and social with a focus on a content journey for the consumer.
